I stood on top of the skyscraper, looking down at the sparkling city.
Being winter, it was cold, but with my warm bird blood coursing through me veins, it wasn't bad.
With my infamous raptor vision, I spotted Aleron. He glided over to me and landed beside me, and I could feel my heart jump. Finally! I get to do what I've always imagined doing. Fly through the night with Aleron.
"Anywhere specific you want to go?" he asked me. I thought. Why not drop in by the HQ and give Trinity a little surprise?
"If you promise not to tell anyone, I'll show you a really cool place," I said.
"You think I will tell anyone?" said Aleron. "I'd say 'Hey! Me and Red went for a midnight flight over the city and she showed me a secret place!'" I laughed.
"Fine," I said. "It's not like we're going to have to bond it with blood then." I looked over the side of the skyscraper. It was a long way down.
"Ready?" I said.
"Ready," said Aleron. I took a few steps back before running and flinging myself into space. I hung suspended in the air for a moment before tilting down, and I dropped.
The cold air screamed in my ears, and my hair whipped around madly behind me. I would have smiled. I've been wanting to do this forever!
I snapped my wings open and propelled myself faster until I was sure I had reached around two hundred to three hundred miles an hour. Then I pulled up. Swinging my body left and right, I steared, occasionally beating my great wings. Eventually, I pulled above the skyscrapers and leveled out, heading away from the city.
Aleron flew beside me. He had a little bit of a bigger wingspan than I did, and his wings were different than mine. I have falcon wings, and he had eagle wings. Which also means I'm a faster flyer.
"Where are we going!?" Aleron yelled above the roaring wind.
"I'll tell you when we get there!" I yelled back.
Soon I landed in the more hilly/mountainy regions, in front of an old shack.
"This?" said Aleron, looking doubtfully at the shack. I opened the old rotten door and went in. It was a very old shack, with a cold dirt floor. But in the ground in the corner there was a wooden trapdoor.
I walked over to it, and opened it. It went straight down, with ladder prongs in the metal wall. I jumped down.
"Coming?" I said. Aleron jumped after me. We came to a big metal door. You need a password to get through.
I typed a code into the keypad.
"Name?" a mechanical voice said.
" 'Starbird'," I said. The door slid open.
"Like some movie," said Aleron. We walked in.
You know, being back in the HQ made me feel as though I had just come home. Everything was familiar. It looked like, well, a superhero base, but with a luxurious touch. I admit Trinity did a good job with cleaning it up. It looks kind of like that cool base from "The Incredibles". The one on that island.
Aleron looked shocked.
"You made this, Red!?!" he cried.
"I found it," I said. "But I re-modified it a little." Suddenly, from the shadows, appeared Ulric.
"What are you doing here?" I said.
"I heard you were giving Aleron a Welcome party," said Ulric. "My invitation must have been lost in the mail."
"When did you get here?" I said. "And how did you get in?"
"I knocked and Trin answered," said Ulric like it was obvious. "And I got here a little over ten minutes ago." And then Trinity appeared. She looked surprised at Aleron.
"You're right Red," she said. "He is a mutant like us!"
"But then again, since when has Pidge ever been wrong in her life?" said Ulric with dark sarcasm.
"Isn't Anton here?" I asked. Ulric snarled.
"No," Trin said.
"And if he was he would've been my midnight snack," said Ulric. "And since he's not a mutant freak..."
"And if he was?" said Aleron.
"He would be making plans on building a batmobile," I said, rolling my eyes. Trin laughed a weird laugh. I checked the ceiling, just to make sure I didn't see a five foot eleven inch tall bat hanging from the ceiling fan. Ew! What a thought!
"Ulric told me about Aleron," she said. "How Ulric attacked him with anti-repressant." Ulric snorted. I realized his hair was back to normal again, which as we know, is very abnormal.
"Well," I said, flopping down upon a couch. "Now that we're all here..."
"What do you mean?" said Ulric.
"Well, we're a team, right?" I said. I saw Trin and Ulric exchange glances.
"Well, yeah," said Trinity. "A team of genetically mutated freaks with superhuman powers."
"Wait," said Ulric. "I know what Red means. We're like, superheros! She's saying we should get costumes and have a team name and such!" He seemed rediculously excited.
"Um, sure," I said. "I'm sure yellow spandex would look ravishing on you..." He gave me a dark look.
"But we should have a team name," said Aleron.
"Sure," said Trinity. "Something that we can have to mark our existence on earth."
"We should call ourselves 'The Ultimate'," I said, thinking of my blog.
"Sure, that's totally not cheesy," said Ulric.
"Oh, would you rather be called 'Ulric and his happy cohorts'?" I said.
"I think Red is right," said Trinity. "We should call ourselves 'The Ultimate'. Only because we don't have anything else to call ourselves."
"I agree," said Aleron.
" 'The Ultimate' it is," I said.
So there you go. The story of how we became a team.
Me, Aleron, and Ulric had to split because we would be tired as hell in the morning, and we needed to get some shut-eye anyway. Ulric ran home (because he has the ability to run at two hundred miles tops) and me and Aleron took air and flew. Trin stayed at the HQ, because she insisted, and I went back to Jalana's.
I'm thinking I'll move out myself, because there's no use staying in Jalana's house if Trin's not there. I mean, Jalana is Trinity's second mother, not mine.
And the HQ is mine anyway.
So there. When I can, I will move out. Maybe Aleron will come too, and I think Ulric will be more than happy to leave Jalana's house.
But it make sense to move out because we're a team you know. We had something like a sort of bonding happen at the HQ that night, and we couldn't split because of our own asparations and wants and crap like that. Even though Aleron and Ulric do not get along very well, and Ulric's sworn death upon Trin's boyfriend, we're still a team. The Ultimate, if you will.
So there you go. A team of four mutant freaks living in society.
I swear, my life should be turned into a movie.
